Required Background Checks

The Lehigh Valley Baseball League will follow state laws, along with any exceptions or additions as required law . All background checks are good for 5 years from the date they were processed.

As part of the PA state law for volunteers, three background checks are required to be obtained allow people to volunteer in our organization.

3. FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Check (Pennsylvania allows for anyone who has been a resident of the state of Pennsylvania for 10 years to fill out a FBI Waiver form instead of getting their fingerprint done.  If said person is found to have any of the offenses listed on the waiver, they will be found guilty of perjury and could be subject to the penalties of 18 Pa. C.S. § 4904 relating to unsworn falsification to authorities.)

   If you are not a resident of 10-plus years, you need to do a $27 federal background check.   

The positions of the LVBL that are required to have background checks are any Teams that have minors participating (16u and 17u) and all league officials and volunteers.

• League Officers
• ​League Ambassador
• Coaches including Assistant Coaches and/or Participating Parents and Guardians
• ScorekeepersVolunteers (Photographers, Videographer, ect.)

All clearances must be uploaded to the coaches online profile. The current law allows for any clearance to be used for up to 5 years from the time of the clearance valid date.  If found to have any questionable offenses on any of the clearances, that individual will have to come in front of the board in order to finalize decision of acceptance.
